Frequency synthesiser for airborne applications

13 September 2017 Analogue, Mixed Signal, LSI

Cobham Microelectronic Solutions has developed a new series of frequency synthesisers designed to meet the stringent phase noise, spurious and harmonic specifications demanded by today’s airborne applications.

The new 1018 synthesiser measures 2.6 x 2.6 x 0.6 inches 6,6 x 6,6 x 1,5 cm, weighs just 113 grams, and delivers full frequency coverage from 450 MHz to 18 GHz in 10 MHz steps with less than 250 µs switching speed. It provides a new platform with significantly lower SWaP-C (size, weight, power and cost) to continue Cobham’s heritage of customised high-performance synthesiser solutions.

The 1018 is suitable for airborne, shipboard and laboratory environments wherever high performance is needed at low cost in a small package. Cobham is open to discussing optimisation to tailor this design for any application.
