XP Power has introduced the JTD15 and JTD20 series of board-mounted DC-DC converters, which target cost sensitive applications where a compact unit with a wide input range is required. The range is aimed at offering a power solution in multiple markets, such as instrumentation, broadcast, networking, telecommunications and data communications.
Offering 15 W and 20 W, the modules employ the latest design technologies to provide high efficiency in an industry-standard format, an ultra-wide 4:1 input voltage range, and an extended operating temperature range of –40°C to +100°C. Providing regulated single- and dual-output models in the range, the JTD15 and JTD20 series offer input voltage ranges of 9 – 36 V or 18 – 75 V d.c., making them suitable for 12, 24 and 48 V d.c. input applications in industrial or telecom/datacom applications. Output voltages include 3,3 V, 5 V, 12 V and 15 V single outputs or ±5 V, ±12 V and ±15 V dual outputs. Input to output isolation is 1600 V d.c.
Coming in small metal-cased packages with dimensions of only 40,64 x 25,4 x 10,4 mm, the modules provide designers with more board real estate to add other features, or to reduce the size of the overall end product. Offering efficiency from 82% to 90% – with an average efficiency of 85% – the modules also run cooler and dissipate less heat in end systems, making them capable of operating in most environments with no need for airflow or heatsinks. Additionally, the modules deliver full output power up to +70°C with no derating.
Other features include ±10% output voltage trim with an external resistor for single output models, and remote on/off as standard on all models. Both JTD15 and JTD20 ranges also meet EN55032 Level A EMI standards with no external filtering required, thereby saving valuable PCB space.
