Motherboards ensure stable supply stream

18 April 2018 Computer/Embedded Technology

Falling under its CSM (Corporate Stable Model) programme, ASUS offers motherboard solutions for all major chipsets, including value segments such as the Intel H110. They are available in a wide range of form factors, with comprehensive compatibility validations and certifications, and feature Intel vPro hardware security technology, PCI Express slots, COM headers, LPT headers and Trusted Platform Model (TPM) chips.

The CSM programme has been in operation in US and Canada since 2001, supplying motherboards ideal for enterprises, as well as small- and medium-sized business. The products include a stable roadmap and assured 12-month supply availability to ensure customers need not worry about material supply gaps or extended supply.

Each motherboard features the ASUS Control Center suite - free server-grade IT management software that provides comprehensive control and monitoring. It helps businesses monitor system temperatures, fan, and voltage and hardware status; and allows remote desktop management including access to power controls, BIOS settings and updates, and security features such as enabling or disabling access to USB storage devices. It also helps with asset management, including software dispatch and device-metadata management.

ASUS Control Center is currently being used by the New Taipei City Hospital, where the ASUS thin client architecture was employed to replace computers in its consultation rooms and customer information centres to improve efficiency. The ASUS thin client system and ASUS Control Center shortened troubleshooting time and allowed for easy scheduling of updates, helping facilitate the setup of the hospital’s automated management process. In addition, the system’s active notifications allowed IT staff to resolve any issues in a timely manner.

The same can be said of the National Taiwan University (NTU) library. “ASUS Control Center’s remote monitoring and online maintenance functions are very helpful as our library is quite big. ASUS took the initiative to offer more functions such as scheduling boot-up and shutdown after studying our library usage patterns. It saves us a lot of time, allowing library staff to focus on more high-value work," said Ms. Hui-Hua Chen, library system information group leader, NTU.

As one of the world’s leading motherboard brands, ASUS has the supply flexibility to respond rapidly to forecast changes, ensuring that its customers need not worry about material supply gaps or extended supply, even when projects require a supply guarantee in excess of 12 months. ASUS also issues an engineering change notice (ECN) before product revisions, an end-of-life (EOL) notice six months prior to a product’s EOL, as well as a last buy order (LBO) three months prior to EOL. This gives customers a proper lead time to ready themselves for product transitions.

CSM motherboards are available in bulk packaging packs of 10. This eases the mass production of systems by reducing clutter and increasing efficiency. All accessories found in a standalone motherboard box are included within this bulk packaging. The boards are also available in standard retail packaging, offering customers flexibility since no minimum order is required. Each package has a full-colour ASUS logo and product branding for easy identification and organisation in the warehouse.
