Motor circuit breakers

15 August 2018 Circuit & System Protection

The TeSys GV4 range of motor circuit breakers from Schneider Electric offers a full set of advanced features and functions. The highly compact product line combines digital intelligence with robust and reliable protection for motor applications. Importantly, it has also been engineered to perform in the harshest environments, such as in wastewater treatment facilities, refineries, cement plants, crane hoisting machines and many other challenging applications.

Designed to ensure continuous operation and reduce motor downtime under the toughest of conditions, the TeSys GV4 combines basic circuit breaker protection together with a range of advanced features and the ability to handle up to 55 kW of power and current up to 115 A.

The product range offers three types of protection: magnetic for the GV4L model; electronic thermal magnetic for the GV4P, which is dual-class 10 and 20 with a wide range of overload settings; and electronic thermal magnetic with adjustable advanced protection and alarming features for the GV4PEM. Alarming and fault differentiation features are also available with the optional SDx side module. All these advanced protection and pre-alarm features enable better process control and anticipation of problems before they happen.

The TeSys GV4 range also comes as standard with two-hole EverLink power connectors. The company’s EverLink patented technology for terminals reduces the risk of loose bare cables due to copper creeping. In addition, this brings improved ability to withstand vibration and also means that there is no requirement for yearly periodic re-tightening. The power connectors mean the range can also be equipped with a wide range of accessories, including auxiliaries, rotary handles or advanced alarming and fault differentiation modules.

The range also offers highly user-friendly operation with settings selection via the NFC communications protocol and the TeSys GV4 app for smartphones or tablets, enabling the reading of diagnostics or the setting of protection features such as jam, long start and ground fault.

Available in eight ratings from 2 A up to 115 A, three breaking capacities are available including 25, 50 and 100 kA, as per the IEC standard at 415 V a.c. The range is also certified to EAC and CCC standards, and the GV4P and GV4PEM also offer UL certification.
