Telegesis ETRX2 ZigBee modules have received approval for use in South Africa.
The radio equipment type approval certificate has been issued by ICASA (Independent Communications Authority of South Africa) which is the regulator for the South African communications sector, responsible for the regulation of broadcasting, postal and telecommunications services. The type approval certificate covers all nine provinces of South Africa and opens the door for South African customers to use Telegesis modules in a variety of ZigBee applications.
South Africa is seen as an increasingly important market for ZigBee as the government is actively looking to introduce smart metering solutions as part of a national electricity emergency programme to alleviate the country’s growing energy crisis.
