TI supports local academia

21 July 2010 News

A representative of Texas Instruments’ European University Programme recently visited 9 of the 13 universities teaching electronics and related disciplines in South Africa. According to programme manager Robert Owen, the thirst for knowledge and the enthusiasm to engage with TI’s technologies was evident everywhere he went. The company has pledged to continue to keep all post-graduates (Masters project students, PhD students, lab managers, lecturers, readers and professors) fully informed of the initiatives that TI has to support academia.

The European University Programme was established in 1994, and facilitates the inclusion of leading-edge, real-time DSP, microcontroller (MCU) and analog technologies into academic research and teaching courses. More than 1000 universities offering electronic and electrical or computer engineering or related courses across Africa, the Middle East and Europe have participated in this programme.

Interested parties can register online at www.ti.com/europe/docs/univ/docs/regist.htm or by e-mailing their full contact details (including full shipping address and telephone number) to [email protected]. Once registered, members will receive a welcome pack including brochures, information about the programme, price list and a full set of teaching materials on CD-ROM. They will also receive access to preferred pricing on tools specifically for academic users, as well as access to TI expertise through the European customer support centre (ECSC). Also included are a 50% discount on the price of all TI workshops for academic participants; quarterly mailings of DSP information and University Programme support; publication of useful materials such as proceedings, contest entries and books; as well as a full range of teaching materials covering the entire signal chain.
