Miniature inductors for elevated temperatures

7 May 2003 Passive Components

BI Technologies has introduced a series of SMT inductors featuring a class H design for operation at elevated ambient temperature. The HM61 Series are low-profile form factor inductors that feature low DC resistance and high current handling capabilities. They offer a wide inductance range from 1 to 2700 mH (inductance measured at 1,0 kHz, 0,1 V) at up to 4 A continuous with operating frequencies up to 2 MHz. Specially designed for machine placement, the HM61 Series is compatible with vapour phase and infrared reflow soldering.

The HM61 Series inductors are suited for use in radio interference suppression, decoupling in RF and IF circuits and in DC-DC converters. They can also be used in safety devices as well as other applications in automotive electronics.

DC resistance ratings range from 0,015 to 10,5 Ω with operating temperatures ranging from -40 to 180°C. The HM61 family comes in two space-efficient footprints (4 x 4,8 mm and 8 x 8,5 mm).
