Network Instruments has added wireless support to its Observer product line. Wireless support is seamlessly integrated with the existing features of Observer, Expert Observer and the Observer Suite.

With its ease of installation and portability, wireless networks are gaining popularity and creating a host of new network troubleshooting issues for companies. Besides the standard capacity and access issues, administrators now face additional security and expandability concerns, as well as the challenge of integrating a new technology into existing infrastructures.

Network Instruments developed Observer's wireless capabilities to ease the increasingly complex nature of network administrator's jobs. "We saw that the existing wireless analysis offerings were limited, both in the type of troubleshooting information offered, and in their lack of integration of standard 'wired' protocol analysis tools," said Douglas Smith, president of Network Instruments, LLC. "Observer products include the deepest wireless analysis feature set offered by any product on the market, completely integrated with wired support all in one package. After all, what company only has a wireless LAN? Almost without exception, new wireless networks are connected to wired networks."

The company has integrated a complete set of wireless troubleshooting and measurement tools into its Observer product line, providing complete support for Wireless 802.11, Ethernet, Token Ring and FDDI in a single package.
