Intrinsically safe thermometers have two channels

The Hart Scientific 5577 handheld, intrinsically safe RTD thermometer system available from Spescom MeasureGraph is ideally suited to operating in specified hazardous environments. Despite its light weight and portability, it is a two-channel, high-performance instrument that provides high-accuracy measurements across an important temperature range, says Spescom.
The 5577's safety rating makes it a critical instrument for petrochemical refineries that have previously mainly relied on expensive and delicate liquid-in-glass thermometers for temperature reading. It is also a valuable device for natural gas firms, which, in custody transfer applications, must make precise temperature measurements to ensure volume accuracy.
The thermomoter provides basic accuracy of ±0,05°C over its full range of -100 to 135°C. In addition, a drift specification of ±0,05°C allows for one-year drift of the probe under normal usage and handling conditions. Each new 5577 system (meter and probe) is 'system calibrated' at Hart, providing a NIST-traceable NVLAP-accredited system calibration.
As the 5577 provides two channels, two probes may be purchased for use with each meter. Each probe must receive its own system calibration with its intended meter on its own specific channel, requiring it thereafter to be dedicated to its channel in order to gain the full intended advantage of the 5577's accuracy specifications. The combination of accredited, calibrated accuracy and intrinsic safety, make the 5577 a truly unique solution for industries involved in hazardous environments.
