STMicroelectronics has introduced a 16-bit dual-supply bus transceiver level translator available in the innovative TFBGA package. It is designed for applications in PDAs, motherboards, cellular base-stations, and mobile and portable equipment. The 74VCX1632245 provides a two-way asynchronous communications interface between buses at 3,3 and 2,5 V or 1,8 V in mixed 3,3/1,8, 3,3/2,5 or 2,5/1,8 V supply systems. The parts offer symmetrical output impedance and balanced propagation delays. All the inputs have protection circuits against static discharge, giving them 2 kV ESD immunity and transient excess voltage. The parts also have power-down protection on their inputs and outputs. Package options include the thin-profile, fine-pitch TFBGA54 package, a 48-pin TSSOP and a 42-pin mFPGA.
