Connector and EMI cages for SFP optical transceiver applications

Samtec offers a 20-pin SMT connector and a complete line of EMI cages for SFP (small form-factor pluggable) optical transceiver applications. The availability of the connector and cage from a single supplier simplifies purchasing and inventory control when Ethernet distribution products are intended to include only SFP slots (connectors and cages). This allows any desired SFP transceivers or patch cables to be plugged in as needed.

SFP cages (SFPC series) complement the 20-pin connector (MECT series). The picolight OptoCage features a one-piece design, superior EMI suppression characteristics, and rigid materials and construction ensuring stability as well as high retention force. The SMT connector and cages (including press-fit, PCI press-fit, and solder lead versions) are designed to the exact SFP specification making them compatible with all make and model SFP optical transceivers and patch cables.

Components may be ordered individually (MECT and SFPC series) or as a package kit (SFPK series).
