48/64 KB Flash microcontrollers

27 August 2003 DSP, Micros & Memory

Microchip's 48 and 64 KB PICmicro Flash microcontrollers include added I/O, timers, a feature-rich peripheral set and field self-programmability. The 8-bit PICmicro devices also feature 4 KB of RAM and 1024 bytes of high-endurance EEPROM data memory. With a performance of 10 MIPS at 10 MHz and an operating voltage range of 2,0-5,5 V, the microcontrollers are ideal for a wide range of high-end applications.

The peripheral set includes an ADC converter with up to 16 channels with 10-bit resolution and five Capture/Compare/PWM modules. Other peripherals include two 8-bit timers, three 16-bit timers, one watch-dog timer, dual analog comparators and a parallel slave port. Serial I/O features include SPI, I2C, and two LIN compatible addressable USART modules supporting RS485 and RS232.

The new PIC18F8525/6525 and PIC18F8621/6621 microcontrollers are available in 64- and 80-pin TQFP packages.
