Vishay Intertechnology's Siliconix subsidiary has released seven new low-voltage, high-performance analog switches, including a single-pole/double-throw (SPDT) switch that boasts a 1,6 x 1,6 mm package footprint - claimed to be the industry's smallest.
Characterised for operation from 1,8 to 5,5 V, these analog switches are designed for routing and selecting signals in battery-operated and portable equipment, in which small size and low power consumption are critical. A high-density CMOS process improves device performance for lower on-resistance, better on-resistance flatness, high off-isolation, lower cross-talk, and wider bandwidth.
The DG2011 SPDT analog switch is the smallest-packaged analog switch, featuring a six-lead SC-89 package (industry-standard SOT-666). In 1,6 x 1,6 mm footprint, the SC-89 provides board area savings of 40% over devices in the SC-70 with a 55% thinner height. 1,8 Ω on-resistance and a charge injection of less than 10 pC over the entire analog voltage range, makes it ideal for audio output switches in battery-powered systems.
The DG2016 and DG2031 are dual SPDT analog switches in MSOP-10 packages.
The DG2016 is designed specifically for low-voltage, high-bandwidth applications, with on-resistance (3 Ω at 2,7 V), matching, and flatness guaranteed over the entire analog voltage range. The device achieves wide dynamic performance with better than -80 dB for both cross-talk and off-isolation at 1 MHz. Fast switching speeds, low on-resistance, high bandwidth, and low charge injection make the DG2016 well suited for audio, video, and data switching requiring high linearity.
The DG2031 provides a sub-1 Ω on-resistance (0,75 Ω at 2,7 V) and excellent matching between the two switches (less than 0,05 Ω at 2,7 V) while guaranteeing flatness (less than 0,2 Ω at 2,7 V) over the entire voltage range. It also features a low logic threshold voltage for easy interface to low-voltage DSP signals.
