LEM has introduced the LTSR family of current transducers, adding additional functions and improved characteristics to its existing LTS series. The new transducers offer current measurement of all current forms in power electronics applications such as drives and UPS, with three models: the LTSR 6-NP, LTSR 15-NP and the LTSR 25-NP providing nominal current measurements of 6, 15 and 25 A r.m.s. respectively. All three can measure more than three times Ipn (primary nominal current) at 18, 45 and 80 A respectively.
The LTSR transducers combine low price with an intrinsic accuracy of ±0,2% and a bandwidth of DC to 200 kHz. Their compact size is coupled with high isolation and high EMC immunity.
The new models are parts of the µProSenz family of transducers, which operate from a single supply voltage of 0 to +5 V. The LTSR uses a LEM-designed ASIC that integrates the field sensing element onto the same substrate as the electronics, providing a solution that partially compensates the Hall cell's drift due to temperature variation. This latest design of ASIC improves the offset drift and therefore the stability of controlled loops that incorporate the transducer.
The LTSR transducers also bring more flexibility to applications thanks to their 'REF' pin, which provides access to the internal voltage reference of the ASIC, which can then be fed to the reference of an A/D converter. In this mode, the transducer voltage output at Ip = 0 is equal to the voltage available at the pin REF with a maximum offset of ±25 mV. This extra pin can also receive the internal reference (from 1,9 to 2,7 V) of the digital signal processors or A/D converters commonly used with the LTSRs, allowing cancellation of the reference temperature drift. If the REF pin is not used, the output is 2,5 V ±25 mV with no primary current. In all cases, the variation span of the output signal is of 0,625 V/Ipn.
The LTSR transducers conform to the EN 50178 standard, recognised for industrial applications. LEM Components offers a five-year warranty for each transducer.
