Ultra-bright white LED replaces incandescent lamps

24 September 2003 Opto-Electronics

Vishay Intertechnology has completed its ultra-bright TLCx5100 LED series with the TLCW5100, an exceptionally bright and highly visible 5 mm white LED designed to meet the demands of high-end lighting applications and to replace incandescents. The diode chip is built on high-efficiency InGaN technology. In a clear, non-diffused LED package, with 0,33 chromasticity, 9° angle of intensity and typical luminous intensity of 4000 mcd, it has an untinted plastic lens optimised to provide exceptional light output and visibility. Devices in the TLCx5100 series, which includes red, blue, yellow, and true green versions with luminous intensity up to 20 000 mcd, can be used as energy-saving and more reliable alternatives to incandescent lamps in a broad range of applications including interior and exterior lighting, outdoor display panels, automotive instrumentation and front-panel indicators, and light guide designs. DC forward current is 30 mA max; reverse voltage 5 V; thermal resistance of 300 K/W; 1 kV ESD-withstand voltage; -40 to +100°C operating range.
