Renesas Technology Europe's R8C series is its first low end, low pin-count flash microcontroller family. The series incorporates a high-performance 16-bit CPU and flash memory and suits a wide range of applications. The series is positioned below the current M16C/20 and H8/300H Tiny series with pin-counts of 42 to 64. The first devices from the series are three models in the basic-specification R8C/10 group and three models in the functionally enhanced R8C/11 group. The R8C/10 devices are 16 MHz and incorporate such peripheral functions as multifunction timers, serial interfaces, a high-speed 10-bit A/D converter, a 100 kHz ring oscillation circuit, and a main clock oscillation stoppage detection function. The R8C/11 are 20 MHz and incorporate a timer output compare function, a ring oscillation circuit switchable between 100 kHz and 8 MHz, a POR, and a voltage detection circuit, in addition to the R8C/10's peripheral functions. The on-chip single-power-supply flash memory is available in 16, 12, and 8 Kbyte sizes, and features on-board programming with fast write speed and high reliability. Memory address space is 64 Kbytes.
