The NBSG72A, a SiGe-based, high bandwidth, fully differential Emitter Coupled Logic crosspoint switch with output level select capabilities, is the newest member of ON Semiconductor's GigaComm family of high-performance logic ICs designed for the telecommunications, networking and automated test equipment industries.
Operating at speeds above 7 GHz, the NBSG72A is one of the industry's fastest PECL crosspoint switch and ideal for high performance applications at OC-48 and OC-96 speeds of 2,5 Gbps and 5 Gbps respectively. Propagation delay is typically 140 ps with rise times of 50 ps and fall times of 45 ps.
The NBSG72A features two inputs either of which can be routed directly, multiplexed to one or two outputs or fanned-out to both - via the single-ended control pins that accept low voltage ECL (LVECL) or low voltage CMOS (LVCMOS) and transistor-transistor logic (TTL). The versatility of the device enables a myriad of application possibilities. In addition to routing reference clocks, it can be implemented as a fan-out buffer, a serial digital video router, automatic protection switch. The Output Level Select feature offers programmability to the output signal peak-to-peak amplitude from 0 mV to 800 mV in five discrete steps.
The NBSG72A is packaged in 3 by 3 mm 16-pin quad flat no-lead (QFN).
