BivarOpto has added an ultra-wide angle viewable LED Module to its Mako Series. Available in industry standard colours including white and tri-colour RGB (red/green/blue), the Super-Flux Mako-Wide LED unit allows designers to create displays of any colour, including white and purple. A simple grid-type mounting arrangement creates a colour display that will further intensify LED brightness across a wider area without gaps, and allows for the use of fewer LEDs than may be otherwise required by similar technologies, according to the company.
The MW Series features new lens geometry, providing a full 180° viewing angle. This increases the viewing angle three times over the industry standard 60° LED configuration. The geometry also has enabled a lower overall profile, approximately 1,9 mm, to a total height of only 2,5 mm. Footprint is 7,62 mm square, including rigid 5,08 mm 'grid-spaced' PCB pins with integral standoffs.
For higher current capabilities, the Mako-Wide Series features an integral heatsink, reflector-based lead frame that allows placement of up to three individually addressable LED die. Each LED shares the basic optics, reflector and lens, creating up to three unique LEDs. The amount of current allocated to each chip can be controlled by the designer to achieve the desired colour.
