Quick connect insulated electrical tabs

10 March 2004 Interconnection Interconnection

Insulated PIDG Faston tabs are a solid tin plated brass tab with nylon insulation around the crimp end. Available from Tyco Electronics, this product can be used in in-line splicing applications along with an appropriate insulated receptacle.

Wiring harnesses in a variety of industrial and commercial equipment as well as control systems are potential applications for this product.

Insulated PIDG Faston tabs are classified as a '250' product, which identifies its width as 0,250" (6,35 mm). The tabs will mate with quick connect receptacles such as fully insulated PIDG Faston receptacles and Ultra-Fast Faston receptacles designed to accept a 250 tab. Three sizes of this product are available (22-18 AWG, 16-14 AWG and 12-10 AWG).

The nylon insulating sleeve on insulated PIDG Faston tabs is colour-coded thus providing identification of acceptable wire size. Further, a tinplated copper sleeve inside the insulation supports the nylon while providing strain relief for the wire. In the crimp barrel, the tabs have serrations that help maximise contact and tensile strength after crimping. Insulated PIDG FASTON tabs are rated for up to 300 V max.
