Designer control knobs

OKW says it has developed two ranges of tuning knobs that give a modern, innovative image thanks to an aesthetically-pleasing design.

The first series of tuning knobs, Top-Knobs, won the IF Design Award recently. Top-Knobs suit rotary potentiometers with round shaft ends in accordance with DIN 41591 and flattened shaft ends of diameter 6/4,6 mm. The screw-type fixture is designed so that it is invisible, that is, the relevant marking elements are simply pushed over the openings. This type of fixture rules out any contact with live parts. The marking elements come in five different versions and some of them are available in five different colours. The basic body is grey or black, with diameters from 16 to 40 mm.

Com Knobs are made of three or two parts and consist of: the basic body of the knob, the lid and the marking element. Closed versions consisting only of the basic body and the lid can also be ordered for universal applications. The available sizes range from 16 mm to 50 mm in diameter. The design and the colours follow those of the Top-Knobs. This guarantees a uniform appearance, even when different fixing techniques are being used. Here the knobs are fitted using a reliable, conventional collet fixture, tried and tested many times for electromechanical rotary potentiometers with round shaft ends in accordance with DIN 41 591. Lids with finger recesses are also available for the two versions 40 and 50. These offer significant support for rational handling when adjusting the final units.
