By supplying a mobile computing platform (MPC-100) equipped with CAD and GIS software, Cadmobi from Advantech serves architectural, construction, and GIS professionals. Previously, industrial professionals and engineers would have to lug rolled-up drawings and plans to outdoor sites for surveys and onsite building inspections. Cadmobi is a portable CAD platform that conveniently stores many maps and drawings. Since conventional notebook computers do not have the durability to stand up to demanding construction or surveying environments, Advantech's MobiPanel is ruggedised, so there is little concern about moisture, or dirt, or damage from hard knocks in the field.
According to the company, an entire database of plans, maps, and drawings can be downloaded into the MobiPanel, and Cadmobi allows planning professionals to draw and walk at the same time. In addition to AutoCAD-compatible engineering drawing capabilities, it allows either direct or wireless connection to measuring devices, survey equipment, or GPS. GPS is one among several add-on options that is useful for the GIS, survey, and building trades.
With industrial strength -10 to +50°C operation, up to six hours of continuous operation on a single charge, and a 10,4" high brightness screen, the MobiPanel-based Cadmobi is a truly mobile CAD station.
