Power connector prevents finger probe access

Tyco Electronics has introduced a finger probe resistant (FPR) version of the AMP Power Series 50 connector. This new product is designed to help prevent finger access and allows the connector to be used at elevated voltages in user access areas of electrical equipment. The product is designed to defeat the UL finger probe as defined in UL 60950 and is suitable for use in applications such as power supplies, UPS, battery banks, battery chargers and other power electronics.

AMP Power Series 50 FPR connectors are rated for 50 A and 600 V a.c./d.c. It accepts 6 through 12 AWG wire with insulation diameters up to 11 mm.

The contacts are copper alloy with silver plating. The housings are available in brown or white UL 94-V0 polycarbonate with other colours on request. Two keying configurations are available.
