Special computer enclosures can prevent expensive downtime

The impact on your business of unexpected computer equipment failure is not only the cost of the repairs or replacement. It is also the hundreds of rands for each callout of technical staff and the thousands due to lost production or the inability to render services. According to Drakeng Technologies exposure to atmospheric dust can reduce the life of computer equipment to as little as three months. Although computers are now found in most facets of business, in many cases the environment is not ideal for reliable long term operation.

Drakeng Technologies has supplied over 150 Clean-Cab dust-free computer and monitor enclosures to various South African industries since 1999. Clean-Cab enables one to use conventional office PCs and monitors in aggressive environments, offering superior protection against dust, mildly corrosive atmospheres, and mechanical damage. This reduces equipment maintenance to virtually zero, says the company. The powder coated mild steel enclosures are aesthetic and designed to be re-usable, and because they do not rely on air filtration they do not need periodic maintenance.

When upgrading computer hardware, the company says that all that may be required is to install the appropriate peripheral cable plate to suit the new peripheral device cable requirements (ie, serial ports, printers, keyboards, mice, monitors and networks). An added advantage is that the old machine can be deployed elsewhere in the organisation without time-consuming cleaning and/or refurbishment, increasing the life of your capital assets.
