Capacitors highly specified for high performance

Murata has available a wide range of speciality ceramic chip capacitors, suitable for a variety of high reliability, high voltage, high frequency and high performance circuitry applications. Intended particularly for high performance RF and microwave circuitry, it says these application specific capacitors have undergone rigorous environmental and electrical testing, to ensure their ultra high reliability in critical applications.

For high frequency, high voltage applications, the ERB series ceramic capacitors provide a low cost alternative to 'cubic' capacitors, making them particularly suitable for high volume production use, says Murata. Built with low-loss COG dielectric and electrode materials, the ERB devices are rectangular in shape, for easy automatic assembly. With a stable temperature coefficient (0 ±30 ppm/°C) and high Q at high frequencies, and high RF power handling capabilities, capacitance ranges of the most popular parts are specified from 1 pF to 1 nF at rated voltages from 50 V to 500 V d.c.

For high power communications equipment requiring high RF voltage or current, Murata offers its high-Q, UV series. These parts can be supplied in chip form or with silver leads with capacitance ranging from 1,5 pF to 130 pF up to 330 pF to 910 pF.

Designed specifically for high power RF applications such as semiconductor manufacturing equipment, medical scanning equipment and RF/HF amplifiers, Murata offers the HPP range capacitors. Available in leaded or chip packages (with non-magnetic terminations for MRI applications), these COG or P90 dielectric devices feature low loss and low ESR, with Q specified as >10 000 at 1 MHz (+25°C). Capable of 12 kVAR reactive power in open mounting applications, the HPP capacitors can dissipate more power with heat sinking, for use in very high power, high current equipment. Capacitance values available range to 1200 pF at 2,5 kV, 680 pF at 3,6 kV and 360 pF at 5 kV. Temperature coefficient is quoted at 90 ±30 ppm/°C (P90) and 0 ±30 ppm/°C (COG).

The devices are manufactured and tested to withstand Mil Std 202 environmental specifications (moisture resistance, thermal shock, low voltage humidity).
