Aries Electronics' Program-Your-Own Correct-A-Chip adapters allow users to create small quantities of prototype adapters quickly and inexpensively by cutting and jumpering leads. The adapters allow the use of existing PCB layouts with upgraded ICs by converting DIP, PLCC, PGA, SOIC, BGA, and other device packages and emulators to fit a different DIP footprint. (Some of these conversions may require additional Aries components.)
The Program-Your-Own Correct-A-Chip adapter enables users to avoid costly tooling and setup charges. The user (or Aries) can simply cut, jumper and solder the adapters themselves to the desired configuration. The adapter is terminated in a 7,62 mm centre DIP configuration with 28 pins, but can be easily cut down to any pin count from 2 through 28. All top to bottom pin connections can be cut and jumpered to connect any pin to any pin.
Conversion examples: QFP devices and bypass capacitors to BGA; socketed PLCC devices and associated pull-up resistors to BGA; SOIC devices and passive networks to BGA. The adapters are made of UL94V-0 rated FR-4, using standard Aries collet contacts as the socket pins.
