High density D-Sub connector

11 August 2004 Interconnection

By introducing the first 78-way right-angled D-subminiature connector with press-fit terminations, FCI says it is enabling designers to create higher density product designs without having to move to an alternative and less robust connector technology. The maximum pin count of this type of connector was previously 50.

This latest addition to FCI's Compact D connector range also helps avoid the cost and time of an additional wave solder process. The 78-way female connector occupies the same board space as 50-way versions and is well suited to telecom and industrial applications.

Arranged in four rows, the connector's gold-plated phosphor bronze contacts support a maximum current handling of 3 A. The connector is rated for up to 500 mating/unmating cycles.
