Comprehensive support for Intel extended memory 64 technology

25 August 2004 DSP, Micros & Memory

QLogic has announced that its entire line of SANblade Fibre Channel and iSCSI host bus adapters will support the new Intel Xeon processor-based platforms that include Intel Extended Memory 64 Technology (Intel EM64T). Intel EM64T is an enhancement to the Intel IA-32 architecture, which allows the processor to run newly written 64-bit code and access larger amounts of memory.

Compatible drivers from QLogic for Fibre Channel and iSCSI host bus adapters will be available in conjunction with the availability of versions of Red Hat, SUSE and Windows operating systems offering Intel EM64T support.

QLogic will provide Intel EM64T compatible device drivers for its SANblade QLA234x and QLA236x line of PCI-X to Fibre Channel HBAs, its SANblade QLE236x line of PCI-Express to Fibre Channel HBAs and its SANblade QLA40xx line of PCI-X to iSCSI HBAs. These products are all supported by QLogic SANsurfer device management software. QLogic drivers are downloadable at www.qlogic.com.

Key SANblade features and benefits include:

* PCI-X to Fibre Channel, PCI-Express to Fibre Channel and PCI-X to iSCSI host bus adapters for a variety of applications ranging from desktop to datacenter.

* Up to 80000 I/Os per second and up to 800 Mbytes per second throughput for superior performance.

* Native support in all major operating systems including Windows NT/2000, Novell NetWare, Linux, and Sun Solaris.
