Two-port CAN interface PCI communication card

The PCI-1680U from ProMicro, is a new, special purpose communication card that offers the connectivity of the CAN to a PC and it is compatible with PCI 2,2 bus specification. With its built-in CAN controllers, it provides bus arbitration and error detection with an automatic transmission repeat function. This reduces the chance of data loss and ensures system reliability. The onboard CAN controllers are located at different positions in the memory in order to operate two separate CAN networks simultaneously.

The PCI-1680U is assigned a memory address making it the simplest method of integrating a board into a PC, and it provides the quickest access since the PC treats the board as being standard RAM. The card is capable of high-speed transmission up to 1 Mbps, while the universal PCI connector is compatible with both new 3,3 V and traditional 5 V signalling systems.

It is especially suited for networking 'intelligent' I/O devices as well as sensors and actuators within a machine or plant providing realtime capability, error correction and high noise immunity. Optical isolation ensures protection to 1000 V d.c.
