Using laser for marking PCBs provides safe, repeatable, reliable and permanent markings without maintenance and consumable costs. Nutek has specially designed its laser marking system to accurately mark highly sensitive printed circuit boards in short cycle times.
The system is capable of marking text, bar codes, 2D codes, date codes, time stamps, graphics and grey scale images.
The LMC 2000HE form Nutek is an inline marking system (1000 x 1635 mm and 1555 mm high) but can also be used as a standalone system or in combination with a standard Nutek loader and unloader to supply marked boards to more than one production line. A steel machine frame with automatic interlocked shutters on the PCB entrance and exit openings is used to obtain the class 1 laser safety classification. The operator display is conveniently located and the keyboard can be safely stored when in auto mode. An optional exhaust system can be placed inside the machine, reducing floor space.
The type of laser used for an application depends on many factors, such as the type of product, the marking itself and the cycle time required. The Nutek system has been designed so that different laser types and power ranges can be easily integrated. The LMC 2000HE comes as standard with an air-cooled 10 W CO2 laser, suitable for most PCB marking applications.
An ESD edge belt conveyor transports the PCB towards the marking position and lifts it to match the laser focal point. PCBs with different thickness can be marked without focal point adjustment, reducing change-over times. The large marking area of 508 x 508 mm is obtained by moving the laser unit above the PCB in both X and Y direction. The positioning is servo motor driven to obtain fast and gentle movements.
Nutek's Windows-based human/machine interface is simple to use and gives the operator the possibility to store product related files. Connectivity to a LAN gives the advantage of data-controlled production and remote programming.
