Power emulator supports 8 bit micros

8 November 2000 DSP, Micros & Memory

The iC1000 PowerEmulator from iSYSTEM is the ultimate tool for high-performance microcontroller-based embedded applications in the 8 bit area. Supporting a wide range of 8 bit devices, the iC1000 offers a complete development environment based on the powerful winIDEA software suite.

To maximise flexibility, the iC1000 supports all iSYSTEM 8 bit PODs either with 64-pin or 100-pin connectors. The manufacturer says that the iC1000 provides embedded system debug with comprehensive, realtime high-speed in-circuit emulation up to 50 ns target memory access time using its unique PowerPOD technology. For 68HC08 developers this means up to 8 MHz bus speed or up to 33 MHz with the new 6-cycle 8051 derivatives (66 MHz at 12-cycle). The dramatic increase in embedded system bus speeds has created new challenges for realtime emulation. iSYSTEM uses the latest FPGA technology in its new PowerEmulator technology to meet this challenge.

The iC1000 currently supports the following microcontroller families: 68HC05; 68HC08; 68HC11; 8051; 80251; 8085; C500; C800; PIC; ST7; Z80; Z180. The iC1000 is equipped with a high-speed RS232 interface and a very fast parallel interface (LPT) supporting standard, bi-directional and EPP/EPC interface configurations. USB interface and Ethernet IEEE 802.3 interfaces (RJ45/10 Mbps) supporting the TCP/IP protocol are also available.
