Based on the AMD Alchemy Au1500 processor, the XXS1500 device is a complete Linux computer. The XXS1500 is well suited for development of own Alchemy solutions running Linux as well as deployment as an OEM device, for instance in router/firewall and VPN node applications.
External connections comprise two 10/100 Ethernet ports, two RS232 ports, a USB host/device interface, audio AC-97 input and output and a CompactFlash slot. Memory consists of 16 megabytes of Flash and 64 megabytes of SDRAM. The Linux kernel already loaded into Flash is version 2.4.21 and features a Busybox utility set, Web server, FTP server, Madplay MP3 player, Kaffe JVM and a journalling Flash file system (JFFS2) plus all necessary drivers.
With a MIPS CPU running at 400 MHz, the device consumes only about 3,5 W and measures only 92 x 75 x 35 mm.
