Two-wire thermal sensors in SOT-23

Microchip's MCP980X digital-temperature sensors in space-saving SOT-23 packages have only a ±1°C maximum temperature error, providing digital temperature information for protection and/or calibration, with no external components. They convert and communicate the temperature data in about 30 ms (for 9-bit resolution) via I²C or SMBus interface. Conversion time can be traded against a higher resolution of up to 12-bits. These digital temperature sensors need only 200 μA of operating current and have a shutdown current of 1 μA. A one-shot measurement mode can wake the device to take a single temperature measurement before going back into sleep mode.
