Nordic Semiconductor has released to market the nRF2401A transceiver, an addition to its nRF24XX chip family for 2,4 GHz operation. The nRF2401A was developed as a pin-compatible drop-in replacement for the nRF2401, which is widely used for low-cost, low-power 2,4 GHz applications, such as wireless mice, keyboards, and sports instruments. The nRF2401A is also available in a Pb-free 'green' format (nRF2401AG).
The nRF2401A features improved sensitivity and blocking, better range, and higher performance, but offers all the functions of the nRF2401, such as the ShockBurst feature that is used in both receive and transmit mode and simplifies software and protocol design.
This drop-in replacement means that customers do not have to go to the effort of designing a new RF platform or invest in a complicated redesign.
