Flexible and safe power management for racks and data centres

With a reliable power supply being a key necessity for all IT systems, Rittal developed its coordinated Power Distribution range. The active PSM (power system module) supports basic configuration in the IT rack via installation in a vertical support rail with three-phase infeed, and ensures a redundant power supply that may be monitored by connecting to the CMC-TC (computer multicontrol).
The 482,6 mm (19") PDM (power distribution module) has four outgoing connectors (10 kW each). It uses the corresponding PSM module which supports the connection of up to four busbars. In this way, power is supplied centrally, easily and safely to up to four adjacent racks. A central main switch and fuses for each phase of each output allow selective protection and switchability.
The 'high-end' solution is the Rittal PDR (power distribution rack) with a housed sub-distributor of up to 250 A which can accommodate a maximum of eight PDMs, depending on height. Once the electrician has set up the PDR connection to the three-phase power supply, individual components may be retrofitted or exchanged by any non-specialist, using the plug-and-play compatibility of the system.
In conjunction with centralised remote monitoring and control by the CMC-TC, the user maintains consistent control over whether everything is working safely at the power supply end.
