FCI adds BGA termination to AirMax VS system

9 March 2005 Interconnection

FCI has increased the versatility of its AirMax VS connector system by incorporating a ball grid array (BGA) attached into the backplane receptacle connector. Combining its innovative shieldless AirMax VS design with proven BGA connector technology, FCI has developed a connector that, with the BGA attachment option, will allow designers to optimise footprint, via and routing options. The elimination of the metal shields results in a less cumbersome, lighter connector with fewer termination points, so the AirMax VS BGA connector is easier for manufacturers to process.
