Silicon Laboratories' C8051F35x family of universal sensor interface MCUs for signal conditioning and digitising sensors provides up to 17-bit of true measurement performance on a 20 mV input signal. This rivals the best discrete ADCs on the market, claims the manufacturer. The anti-aliasing nature of the integrating converter in the F350 eliminates the need for anti-aliasing filters. The device's signal conditioning front end allows a sensor to be directly connected to the MCU. The C8051F35x family integrates all the discrete parts common in data acquisition systems, reducing board size by eliminating up to nine discretes and saving system costs. The F35x family integrates a high speed 50 MIPS 8051 core with 8KB of Flash, a 24 bit sigma-delta A/D or a 16 bit A/D, 2 by 8 bit current DACs, voltage reference, 2% oscillator, temperature sensor, multiplexer, PGA and comparator on a single IC. It also has UART, SPI, and SMBus serial buses, and operates on 2,7 to 3,6 V. It is available in either 28 pin MLP or 32 pin LQFP.
