The MAX6397/8/9 are three low-power, integrated automotive overvoltage protectors from Maxim, capable of handling voltages up to 72 V. The devices are designed to provide the necessary protection and reduce system cost by allowing use of lower input-voltage DC-DC regulators. The devices can be configured as a switch controller that turns off an N-channel switch after an overvoltage condition, or they can operate in a voltage-limiter mode that regulates the output to allow for continuous operation. An internal charge pump ensures that the N-channel switch is fully enhanced during normal operating mode. The MAX6397 also offers an additional independent always-on linear regulator that can deliver up to 100 mA current with fixed-output options of 5 V, 3,3 V, 2,5 V, and 1,8 V. The MAX6399 offers undervoltage monitoring. They come in a 3 x 3 mm TDFN package and are fully specified from -40 to +125°C.
