SST is offering serial flash memory to support Intel's new Intel 82573E LAN chipset featuring Intel Active Management Technology (Intel AMT), and Intel 945 Express chipset family with Intel 82801GB and 82801GR I/O Controller Hub. SST's 4-Mbit SST25LF040A and 8-Mbit SST25LF080A nonvolatile serial flash devices are a key enabling technology for companies wanting to implement Intel AMT for increased network management. The SST devices also provide designers of Intel 945 Express chipset-based systems with a BIOS solution that supports advanced capabilities and increased functionality in high-end notebooks, desktop PCs and servers.
Intel AMT is a platform-resident hardware and firmware solution that enables corporate IT departments to remotely manage networked platforms in any system state. The SST SST25LF040A/80A devices feature 4 Kbyte small sector blocks, which make it easier for the software handling in Intel AMT enabled systems. They also feature a 33 MHz max clock frequency and a typical standby current of only 8 μA. SST's serial flash also incorporates a four-wire, SPI-compatible interface that uses fewer pins to transfer data to and from a system CPU.
