Linear Technology claims its new family of CMOS amplifiers delivers extraordinary DC precision at the lowest possible supply current. With input DC characteristics similar to the best precision bipolar amplifiers, it says the LTC6078 dual and LTC6079 quad op-amps offer a breakthrough combination of specifications. The amplifiers boast a miniscule input offset voltage of 25 μV max and guaranteed offset voltage drift of 0,7 μV/°C max while drawing only 55 μA per channel quiescent current. This implies a tenfold reduction in power consumption over existing op-amps with similar DC accuracy. The low bias current (1 pA max) allows optimum DC accuracy with high source impedance and feedback resistors, while CMRR of 110 dB and high voltage gain of 120 dB preserve precision performance. Operating on 2,7 V to 5,5 V, the amplifiers' outputs can swing rail-to-rail. In shutdown the current is reduced to under 2 μA.
