Cabinet takes on role of server room

19 October 2005 Computer/Embedded Technology

The Proline server cabinet offers a complete and very affordable standalone server room solution, according to the manufacturer, Schroff.

The cabinet comes in various sizes ranging from 25U x 600 x 900 mm to 47U x 800 x 1000 mm. The cabinet is delivered as a complete 'plug in and run' unit all completely fitted with 19" uprights, shelving, earthing kits, depth member sets and various options for climate control and access control.

The climate control options include airconditioner units mounted on the back door for ease of accessibility and space, or fans mounted on the flat top cover. Access control options include manual locking systems or an advanced electronic locking system for access control and monitoring.

There are various options for the doors - these include perforated, glazed glass or steel. A new innovation is the split door option, which allows for access control to certain areas of the cabinet. A major benefit of this is that staff can get access to perform back-ups without access to the servers and confidential data.

The cabinet also includes an innovative and advanced cabinet control system. This system has features that allow for complete cabinet control including climate control, access control and fire sensors. It comes with standard software, which maintains detailed records and has various methods (cellphone notification, e-mail or network) of notifying the person in charge of its status.
