Selective plating, normally available only with stamped contacts only, is now offered by Preci-Dip Durtal on precision machined, highly reliable contacts. The new technology is called 'Bi-Bloc' and allies the advantages of the superior mechanical strength of the machined contact with selective plating: contact pin is gold plated, termination is tinned.
The assembling process of the two parts of the contact guarantees mechanical integrity as well as favourable electrical values (resistance and capacitance).
Contacts based on the Bi-Bloc technology are available with all Preci-Dip products with pin contacts, such as contact strips and PCB connectors, headers and customer specific interconnecting devices. When they are mated with coresponding female (the Preci-Dip contact with gold plated contact clip) there is an ideal situation, ie a gold/gold connection on the mating side and a tin/tin connection on the termination side.
