Ethernet-based automation solutions make special demands on the installation. What is required are packaging solutions with all-round protection that guarantee the survival of networked IT modules right across the harsh industrial environment. The RiLAN Industrial range comprises a modular system with a portfolio of industrial network technology components. With RiLAN Industrial, Rittal is offering an appropriate system solution for every network hierarchy, adapted to suit individual requirements. This means a continuous Ethernet distribution concept for production operations is available: from the industrial distributor to the small contact box that takes the network directly into the machine.
With its protection package, Rittal not only supplies industry-standard enclosures with a suitably-sized window, but rounds off the modular system with extensive system accessories such as patch panels, cable routing clips, LWL splicing cassette holders, cable screws and flange plates. Cabling solutions up to protection class IP67 can be achieved using a combination of these and other modules.
Being scalable, the distributors are available with or without patch panel for RJ45 sockets and LWL couplers. The patch panels or patch bays can be configured either on a top-hat rail and/or mounting plate, and each have up to eight connector ports. These can be increased as required by using a port replicator.
The range of solutions also includes flange plates with pre-assembled metric cable screws made from polyamide, which ensures optimum sealing to IP66 protection. Modular plug inlets for eight to 10 cables provide a new option for the space-saving insertion of pre-assembled cables with plugs or unassembled cables.
Enclosures often require connections to external devices such as laptops, programming devices, or diagnostic units. Rittal's modular interface flap provides optimum on-site service access, without having to open the enclosure, maintaining protection of the technology inside.
