Schurter's new 4797 product extends the company's selection of appliance outlets with this one for currents up to 20 A. It is available in a large amount of variants. The outlet is offered for screw-on or snap-in mounting from the front side. The panel thickness ranges from 1 to 3 mm for the snap-in version while it can be up to 8 mm for the screw-on version. The interconnect to the appliance can be done either with solder contacts or with 6,3 x 0,8 mm quick-connect terminals.

The market indicated to require outlets for protection class II appliances with the IEC-60320-2-2 type L, typical for medical applications with a separate grounding connection. The standard type of the 4797 is typically of the connector type J, according IEC-60320-2-2 resp. UL 489, CSA 22.2 no. 42. These connectors are approved to rated currents up to 16 A 250 V a.c.@ 50/60 Hz according ENEC and up to 20 A 125/250 V a.c. @ 50/60 Hz according UL.

They products are suitable for all kind of electrical equipment according IEC 60950. Typical uses are IT-equipment, power electronics for moveable equipment, measurement and control systems with higher rated currents up to 20 pA, medical applications with protection class II requirements.
