Embedded speech technologies firm, Sensory, has released updates and additions to its FluentChip technology library for its RSC-4x family of mixed signal processors. FluentChip 2.0 offers speech recognition, speech and music synthesis, as well as general product control features running on a single low-cost IC, and requires as little as 20K of memory to recognise a word set with extremely high accuracy, speaker independence and reasonable tolerance for ambient noise, according to the company.
New technologies in Ver 2.0
FluentChip 2.0 includes T2SI (text-to-speaker-independent - no training required), SD (speaker dependent - trained to one voice), and SV (speaker verification - voice biometric password) speech recognition. It also offers MIDI-like music and speech synthesis capabilities, as well as specialised tools to facilitate fast prototyping and product development for members of the RSC-4x family.
Sensory has also added new capabilities:
* T2SI plus SD (allows both speaker independent and customised commands in the same application: an industry first).
* New RSC-464 compatibility (lowest-cost RSC-4x option).
* 16 kHz SX (hi-fi synthesis).
* Variable rate SXL (allows manipulation of speech playback speed).
* Faster frame rates (better recognition for fast talkers).
* Enhanced recognition in noisy environments.
Development tools
Sensory offers the RSC-4x Demo/Evaluation Toolkit V2 to preview and develop its speech technologies in a real world protypical environment. It includes an RSC-4128 based programming board, the new FluentChip 2.0 firmware, and also upgraded programming features that support a USB interface, 0 wait states for improved quality synthesis, and 32 MB of serial flash memory for storing synthesised speech.
For developers who wish to incorporate RSC-4x capabilities into smaller scale projects, Sensory's new 40-pin DIP footprint VR Stamp module also supports the FluentChip 2.0 technology library.
