Web-based battery and power circuit simulator eases design efforts

31 May 2006 Design Automation

Microchip Technology offers a Web-based simulation tool to aid in the design of several circuits useful for power-management applications.

Known as the 'Mindi' analog simulation tool, it enables designers to quickly generate circuit diagrams and specify associated passive components for a variety of power-supply and battery charger applications. Circuits developed using the Mindi simulation tool can be downloaded to a PC and ported directly into system diagrams.

Mindi is available for free on Microchip's website at www.microchip.com/Mindi.

The Mindi simulation tool was designed to save time for power and battery system designers of all experience levels. In addition to shortening the amount of time that designers spend developing circuits, the simulator assists them in choosing associated system components by recommending a wide range of Microchip PIC microcontrollers and analog products, based upon the circuit. Because it is Web-based, Mindi provides realtime updates available anytime and anywhere, ensuring that the latest circuit developments and products are provided.

Applications that can benefit from the Mindi simulation tool include power supplies for DC/DC converters and handheld electronics devices, as well as battery chargers for battery-powered and handheld electronics devices.
