Avago Technologies has introduced a compact high-speed, low-power digital optocoupler for developers of Ethernet switch boxes used in industrial and office networks. Avago's ACPL-M60L, which offers power and space savings, is suited for use in motor control applications, networking power distribution systems used in Ethernet networks, and factory automation equipment.
This high-speed optocoupler can also be used in many other telecoms applications such as system management buses (SMBus) in private branch exchange (PBX) systems that route calls in central office networks, and wireless base stations.
With an operating voltage of 3,3 V, the ACPL-M60L is optimised for low-power consumption, and is compatible with low-voltage TTL and CMOS logic to simplify system designs by eliminating the need for buffer circuits. The combination of short propagation delay and low pulse width distortion at high switching speeds makes this optocoupler particularly suitable for high-speed Fieldbus and controller area network (CAN) Bus industrial networks.
Supplied in an SO 5 small-outline surface mount package, space is saved on PCBs by replacing conventional 300 mil DIP packages. It also features: high isolation voltage of 3750 V r.m.s. per minute; 15 kV/μs minimum common-mode rejection (CMR) at 1000 V common-mode voltage (VCM) to ensure data integrity in electrically noisy environments; and 15 MBd (typical) operating speed.
