Termination chips handle higher powers

18 October 2006 Passive Components

Radiall's new 100 W termination chip is made from aluminium nitride (AlN) and can handle up to 100 W over the DC-6 GHz frequency range without any compromise on the VSWR, according to the company. With the use of this new product, a wider range of applications can be covered within the same product, simplifying production flow and reducing the number of different parts required.

Because of a new adhesion process, the isolator body and terminal has improved strength. AlN is also an environmentally-friendly substrate for users who may have some concern with beryllium oxide use.

These thick film AlN termination chips have a 50 Ω impedance (±5% tolerance) and measure 5,71 x 8,89 mm (DC-5 GHz) and 5,08 x 5,08 mm (DC-6 GHz).
