Maxim claims to have solved the issue of fine-tuning filter cutoffs in anti-aliasing and reconstruction filters. The company also expects the new video filters to facilitate the rapid proliferation of component video sources in consumer electronics.
Maxim has introduced four video filters: the MAX7469/MAX7470 digitally-configurable, three-channel component HD video filters; and the MAX7472/MAX7473, the first ICs to combine a triple 3:1 mux with a digitally-configurable component, anti-aliasing filter and an integrated buffer.
The MAX7469/70/72/73 video filters support 1080i, 720p, 480p, and 480i scanning standards, as well as QVGA, VGA, SGVA, XGA, SXGA, and UXGA computer video standards. The devices also support component video (Y PB PR, RGB, and RGBHV), composite (CVBS), and S-video (Y/C). Such complete video-standard support makes these devices ideal for anti-aliasing and DAC smoothing in digital-video devices such as HDTVs, including LCD, plasma, and CRT models.
