Serial paged flash memory

24 January 2001 DSP, Micros & Memory

The first in a family of high-speed low-voltage serial flash memories from STMicroelectronics, the M25P10 has a four-wire SPI-compatible interface with guaranteed compatibility to future higher and lower density devices. Reduced power consumption is enabled by a single supply voltage of 2,7 to 3,6 V plus a deep power-down mode that typically draws 1 µA.

Drawing on ST's high-endurance CMOS flash technology, the M25P10 allows at least 10 000 program-erase cycles per sector with a data retention of at least 20 years. For applications that require a fast, high density serial NVM, the M25P10, at 20 MHz, is significantly faster than competitive flash-based serial access solutions. With its fast system speed, sequential read capability, low power consumption, small package and low cost the M25P10 offers added value to both high and low end applications.

Key features are: 20MHz SPI bus compatible serial interface; random sequential read; full memory read in 51 ms at 2,7 V; 128 byte page programming in 3 ms typical; sector/bulk erase; single 2,7 to 3,6 V supply voltage; deep power-down mode (1 µA typical); SO8 narrow and SO8 wide packages.
