Linear Technology offers a unique high-side current sense amplifier composed of two complete amplifiers with a combined single bipolar output. According to Linear, the LTC6104's dual amplifier topology is ideal for bidirectional operation and provides exceptional flexibility via gain programmability for each current sense direction. Separate amplifiers allow monitoring of a single current sense resistor, or separate sense resistors. Typical applications include battery charging circuitry, H-bridge driver circuits and servo controls. The high performance LTC6104 has an input bias current of 170 nA max and input offset voltage of ±450 μV max. This allows the part to resolve tiny currents and operate over a wide dynamic range. The LTC6104 has a response time under 1 μs and can withstand voltages up to 70 V. Gain is set with three external precision resistors, providing for accuracy better than 1%.
